Using the PSC 877

One-time Use

This method doesn't change your basic Dial-up Networking settings, but will allow you to make your connection through the "877" number. Settings will revert back to your regular settings after you finish with the connection.

1. Double-click MY COMPUTER

2. (Windows Me) Double-click CONTROL PANEL

3. Double-click DIAL-UP NETWORKING

4. Find the connection icon for PSC. Double-click on it.

5. In the "Connect To" window, delete the phone number currently shown. Type in the PSC "877" number EXACTLY as you need to dial from your location. For example, if you must dial a 9 to get an outside line, enter:

9, 18778374191

Note: Each "," (comma) adds a 1 second pause before the other numbers are dialed. This allows the modem to wait for the dial tone. If necessary, additional commas can be added if more time is needed.

6. Click on CONNECT.

Once the connection is established, click the CLOSE button on the connection window and close any additional windows. Double-click your Internet Explorer or Outlook Express icon to use the connection.

To disconnect, right-click the Connection icon in the System Tray (lower right corner of your screen) and left-click on DISCONNECT.

8. Click NEXT, then FINISH.

9. In the Dial-up Settings window, click the PSC 877 connection to highlight, then click the SET DEFAULT button to make this your default connection.
