Setup: Dial-up Connections - Windows XP

Set up the connection:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Contol Panel
3. Click on "Network and Internet Connections"
4. At the bottom of the window, click on Internet Options
5. Click on the Connections tab.
6. Click on the Setup button. This will start the New Connection Wizard.
7. Click NEXT for the first screen.
8. Select "Connect to the Internet". Click NEXT.
9. Select "Set up my connection manually". Click NEXT.
10. Select "Connect using dial-up modem". Click Next.
11. Type in PSC for ISP name. Click Next.
12. Type in the PSC Local Access number. (see below) Click Next.
13. Enter your account information:

  • Login: [your username] Do NOT include "@psci.net"
  • Password: [your password]
  • Confirm Password: [your password again]
    Leave the options checked at the bottom of this window. Click NEXT.
    14. Click Finish

    Set this connection to automatically open when you need a connection to the Internet:

    1. Click on the Internet Explorer icon. (Note: You will find Internet Explorer on your Desktop, on the Quick Launch toolbar to the right of the Start button, in the Start menu, or in the All Programs menu.)
    2. If this opens a connection window, your settings are correct. If not, continue to step 3.
    3. At the top of the Internet Explorer window, click on Tools, then on Internet Properties.
    4. Click on the Connections tab.
    5. Verify that the new connection is listed in the box titled "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Connections", and that the connection is marked (default).
    6. Select the option "Always dial my default connection".
    7. Click APPLY, then OK.
