These checklists are designed to lead you step-by-step through the troubleshooting process. It is VERY important that you do not skip over steps without completing.
If the answer is ALL, try restarting the router. Your router may have logged out but didn't log back in when it received a request to connect to the Internet. If you still can't connect, go on to Step 2.
If the answer is only one computer, try restarting that computer.
If the computer connects to the router with a cable, check to make sure the cable is connected. Disconnect each end of the cable and reconnect. Listen for the "click" that the cable is locked in place.
If the computer connects to the router wirelessly, check the connection's signal strength. If it shows poor or unavailable, there may be a problem either with the wireless access part of your router, or with the wireless Ethernet in your computer. Try restarting the router and the computer.
If you have other wireless computers, and they are unable to access the Internet, the problem is in the router or connection. Go on to Step 2.
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. At the top of Internet Explorer, click on File, then Open.
3. Enter the IP address (or web address) for your router:
Note: This information may not apply to all routers of the same brand.

If you don't see a login window, make sure the router is on. This may be a sign of a problem with the router itself. If you see the login window, go on to Step 3. If you don't see the login window, contact your router's technical support.
1. Go to a computer that is connected to the router by Ethernet cable and open Internet Explorer.
2. At the top of Internet Explorer, click on File, then Open.
3. Enter the IP address (or web address) for your router:
Note: This information may not apply to all routers of the same brand.

Go to the router's setup page and see if the router is still set up to use a PPPoE connection, and contains your username and password. If not, re-enter the information. If the information is all correct, go on to Step 4.
The router may still have your old username or password entered. Enter the new username and/or password and save the information. If you have not changed your username or password, go to Step 5.
- If you have DSL, restart the modem. Turn off or unplug the modem for 20 seconds, then turn it or reconnect. Wait for the DSL light on the modem to come on solid. You may need to restart your router before it logs in.
- If you have Wireless Internet, restart your radio. Unplug the power supply for 20 seconds, then reconnect. Wait for ONE FULL MINUTE for the radio to reconnect with the network. You may need to restart your router before it logs on.
- If you are still unable to connect to the Internet, go on to Step 6.
Try connecting a single computer to your Internet access. Note that only Windows XP can create a PPPoE connection without additional software. Other versions of Windows require installing WinPoET or similar software before you can create a connection.1. Unplug the cable from your WAN port on the router and connect to the Ethernet port on your computer.
2. On the computer, click on Start, go to Control Panel.
3. Open Network Connections. If you are in Category View, open Network and Internet Connections to find Network Connections.
4. At the top of the window, click on View, then on Tiles.
