Invalid Username and/or Password
There are very few problems that will give you an error message, like "Check your password", "Invalid username or password", or "The username and/or password is invalid on the domain". They are:
- The username is entered incorrectly.
- The password is entered incorrectly.
- There are spaces at the beginning or end of your username, or in your password.
- Your account is already connected on another computer.
- The account is no longer active (disconnected).
- The username/password you are using is only for a POP e-mail account, and can't be used to
Usernames
- PSC usernames are ALWAYS in lower case letters. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- PSC usernames must have a letter as the first character, but can include numbers.
- Usernames DO NOT include "@psci.net" (This would be your email address)
- Usernames DO NOT include any spaces before, after or in the middle.
Examples:
This username is correct:
jjjones
These usernames are NOT correct:
JJJONES (Upper case letters)
j j jones (Spaces in the username)
Jane Jones (Upper case letters AND spaces in the username)
jjjones (leading or trailing spaces)
jjjones@psci.net (this is your email address)
Passwords
- Passwords MUST MATCH EXACTLY the password that is set up for your account at PSC, and can consist of UPPER and lower case letters and numbers.
- Make sure your CAPS LOCK key is not on when typing passwords. Use your SHIFT key to type upper case (capital) letters.
Examples:
This password is correct:
PassWord1234
These passwords are NOT correct:
- password1234 (Letters are all lower case. The "P" and the "W" should be upper case.)
- PASSWORD1234 (Letters are all upper case. Only the "P" and the "W" should be upper case.)
- PassWord!@#$ (The numbers were typed while holding the SHIFT key)
- pASSwORD1234 (The cases are switched. The CapsLock key is probably on)
To correct your username and/or password:
- On the Connect To screen, if your username is not highlighted, press your TAB key until the contents of the Username: window is highlighted.

- If you want Windows to remember your password, make sure the "Remember Password" option is checked. Once you are able to connect successfully, this information will be saved.
- Click on the CONNECT button to try again.
